marked on the barrel: "CRISTOFF PAVLVS HOCK".

under the trigger guard: a small production batch,? an assignment number ?
The
barrel is rifled : hunting weapon with notch and front sight, or precision
shooting ?

Paulus Hoch: this wheeled rifle dates from the late 16th or early 17th century.
I have
not found any other examples under this signature, but the Stöckel found traces
of this gunsmith, probably a German, in 1589.
