The pistol MAB models R, appeared in July 1950, resembles the model D, but with a different mechanism, it does not have any more a pedal of safety and one added to him an internal stop of slide at the end of the charger. He always functions with not fixed breech and with a lock in simple action, but with now an external hammer with peak out of spur. The spring recuperator is always placed around the fixed assembled barrel. The steel slide has vertical scratches of gripping, with a triangular handlebar and a fixed bead gone up to dovetail. The steel carcass has an oval trigger guard and the lever of safety is placed on the left above and behind of the trigger and in lower part, at same high of the trigger guard, the push rod of the bolt of charger is. The handle of right form comprises a ring of lanyard to its heel and its plates are out of squared black plastic with in the center name MAB registers transversely in an oval. The completion is bronzed black.

Pistol MAB models R was manufactured 1950 to 1964. The first versions were in calibers of it 7,65mm long in the hope to be adopted by the French Army. But as this one gave up this caliber, it of it was derived, in February 1951, a version for the civil market, in caliber 7,65mm Browning.

The version caliber 9mm short, marketed in March 1953, is identical to the model R, from which it differs only by the caliber employed.

Pistol MAB models R-9, appeared in 1952, and resembles the model R, but it remotely by its dimensions, its caliber and its mechanism. It functions with breech fixed by short recoil and helicoid rotation of the barrel and with a lock in simple action with external hammer with peak out of spur. The spring recuperator is placed around the barrel and it comprises an internal stop of slide at the end of the charger. Pistol MAB models R-9 was manufactured from February 1952 to November 1963. The majority of the production was imported in the USA by the company Winfield Arms Corporation (WAC) of Los Angeles (like the models C and D). This one made replace by the MAB inscriptions MAB of the plates by inscription WAC and on the slide markings were “Made in France for WAC” with the caliber registered into metric and inches. In the catalog of this firm this gun is referred under the name of Militaire.
