Rifle of infantry model 1853/54 - Mutzig/France in 1857
MI and the date 1858 engraved on the side of the barrel, lock with percussion with the name of manufacture “Manufacture Imperiale de Mutzig”. Lock with an assembly of fixing and only one screw of maintenance. Overall length 142,1cm, length of barrel 102,9 cm, caliber 17,8mm, weight 4.250g. The rifle of infantry M1857 was a development of the model preceding M1842 and M1853, however the differences were weak. M1857 rifle was shorter than its predecessor of 55mm and weighed 140g of less, it always had however the gauge of approximately 18mm.
