Le Français

Manufrance Policeman

ManuFrance Policeman: Circa 1931: This small pistol was intended for use by police in the smaller cities of France in the period between the World wars.

It is distinguished from the standard 25 caliber Manufrance pistols by the longer barrel, 82 mm compared to 60 mm.

The production dates for this Manufrance Policeman type pistol were about 1920 until 1966.

This gun was made prior to 1935, because it has the original style magazine release system and the straight rear grip.

It is loaded through a tip up barrel and after the first shot loads from the magazine.

However, the first shot can only be loaded into the barrel since there is no way to manually slide pull. The trigger is double action only.

It has been suggested to me that the knob at the rear of the slide was intended to protect the firing pin from the force of the recoil.

Pistol "Le Français"

First of all allow me to congratulate you for excellence on your work returning the consultation on the very pleasant and extremely instructive site.

About the gun “Le Français” of Manufrance I forward to you some photographs of the model manufactured tardily in calibre 7,65mm.

Arrived on the market at the beginning of the Fifties this gun disappeared from the catalogue of Manufrance in 1969.

It was manufactured with approximately 10000 specimens.
