Kropatschek M.1886

Portuguese Kropatschek M.1886 Rifle made by Steyr in 1886. The rifle was adopted by Portugal to replace the single-shot Guedes, which by then was considered obsolete.

The rifle was modified in 1896 for more powerful ammunition, as indicated by rear sights graduated to 2,200 meters.

Straight bolt handle.

Original, military configuration with no alteration.

Many thanks to “COLLECTIBLEFIREARMS” for the nice pictures.
