I.VALLET

Length 52 cm, caliber 15 mm.

I. Vallet is mentioned in the early 18th century as a Parisian arquebusier. Associated research suggests that R. Vallet may have been his father.

The flat lock has a slightly curved lower edge, which allows it to be dated before 1710. The rest of the work shows inlaid gilt metal applications, a practice of the 1700s.

The barrel

In two parts, the first third of which is faceted

Decorated with intaglio engravings

 

and in the round with applications, in the Louis XIV style. The upper flat part ends in a rear sight. The breech end is almost straight and has a dovetail.

 

Fittings

The fittings are also in the late-century "Rocaille" style.

Crowned thumb piece held in place by a screw.
