OSSIERO
This is a single shot piston shotgun. It could be a weapon of the Italian manufacturer Ossiero, active in Genoa at the end of the 18th / beginning of the 19th century.
The only reference found is the following : https://www.vonmorenberg.com/en/object/9694/Fucile-ad-Avancarica.html.
There is an air of resemblance with the weapon presented which is however of more rough invoice.
The other sources consulted are silent on the suggestions put forward by the happy owner: COSSIERO, GOSSIERO, JOSSIERO, COSSTERO, GOSSTERO or JOSSTERO.
I do not know where he saw the mention ESCUDO, which is of course an ancient Spanish and Portuguese currency as well as a shield: I certainly do not see the connection with the rifle in question.
