Duck's foot pistol
The duck's foot pistol is a historical firearm with multiple barrels arranged in a fan shape.
Designed
between the late 18th and early 19th centuries, it was primarily used for
self-defense against groups in confined spaces.
It
typically had three to six barrels (sometimes up to eight) that diverged
horizontally.
A single
trigger fired all the barrels simultaneously via a common pan.
It was
the weapon of choice for ship captains (against mutinies), jailers, and bank
guards.
The
simultaneous discharge of multiple rounds caused a violent recoil, which could
injure the shooter.
